Bédarieux
Bédarieux in the Orb Valley, is the biggest town in a territory of 25 000 Inhabitants. With a population of 6000 people, Bedarieux is known as a centre of attraction that makes effort to combine political economy with art of living. Plenty of cultural events are organized all the year around, and invite visitors to discover a land of intense pleasure.
The characteristic limestone hills or “Causses” around Bédarieux form a pastel colored landscape, fragrant with thyme, lavender and rosemary. The multitude of stones here enabled men to create terraces for farming, by constructing myriads of low dry stone walls, as well as the stone shelters called capitelles and the stone-built cottages called mazets.
